Droopy eyelids, also known as ptosis, occur when the upper eyelid sags lower than normal, partially covering the eye. This condition can develop due to aging, weakened eyelid muscles, nerve damage, or underlying medical conditions such as myasthenia gravis. Genetics also play a role, making some individuals more prone to early eyelid drooping. In mild cases, ptosis may only affect appearance, creating a tired or aged look, but in more severe cases, it can obstruct vision and cause eye strain. Without treatment, droopy eyelids can worsen over time, leading to discomfort and functional impairment in daily activities such as reading or driving.
